Our work spans plays and performances, multidisciplinary collaborations, educational programs, interventions, installations, and long-arc initiatives. What connects these projects is a belief that creativity can reshape how we live, work, and imagine together. Each project is rooted in participation, curiosity, and care — inviting people to explore new ideas, deepen connection, and envision possibilities within their communities.
Plays & Performance Works
Catherine Stewart’s plays and performance works blend text, movement, and participatory dramaturgy to explore the systems shaping our lives. Her writing engages audiences in questions of conflict, justice, and community resilience, using theatrical form as a tool for civic imagination. Each work emerges from deep research and collaborative development — drawing from interviews, historical archives, interdisciplinary partnerships, and embodied creative practice.
These productions invite audiences to feel the stakes of systemic issues through character, structure, and theatrical ingenuity, and to consider how individual and collective action might create change. Whether staged traditionally or designed for site-responsive environments, Catherine’s plays center explosive dialogue, radical embodiment, and experiments with form as essential forces for understanding and transforming our world.

Multidisciplinary Collaborations
Our projects that combine theatre, film, dance and visual art bring together artists, researchers, educators, historians, designers, and community partners to explore complex systems through creative practice. Projects like At the Table, Flax to Linen, and Tiny Mayhem emerge from deep research and shared inquiry — blending art-making with social science, public history, design thinking, and embodied learning. These collaborations create spaces where diverse expertise can meet imagination, generating new perspectives, community dialogue, and creative solutions that traditional processes alone can’t reach.
Each collaboration begins with questions rather than answers, guided by curiosity and built in partnership with the people closest to the work. Through workshops, field research, residencies, and iterative creation, we develop projects that respond to place, expand community capacity, and invite participants into a shared imaginative process.

Installations & Interventions
These site-specific projects activate public space, inviting people to pause, notice, and engage with the systems shaping their lives. They often unfold outside traditional theatre settings — in galleries, libraries, forests, civic spaces, and digital environments — using movement, media, and participatory design to transform familiar places into sites of reflection and connection. Each piece is created in relationship with its surroundings and the communities who inhabit them, offering moments of creative disruption, embodied inquiry, and imaginative possibility.

Education Programs & Pedagogy
We design creative learning experiences that blend theatre, movement, and participatory practice with reflective inquiry and real-world application. Whether in classrooms, studios, or community spaces, these workshops and residencies help participants reconnect with their imagination, deepen their creative skills, and build practices that support personal and collective growth. We collaborate with K–12 schools, higher education institutions, and lifelong learners to nurture curiosity, expand artistic capacity, and make creativity an accessible tool for understanding and shaping the world around us.
Each program or resource is grounded in embodied learning and artistic rigor, offering frameworks that invite students and communities to explore complexity, practice collaboration, and imagine new possibilities for how we live and work together.

Multi-year Initiatives & Research
Our work unfolds across three long-arc initiatives: Creativity for Climate Resilience & Ecological Futures, Creative Workforce Equity & Sustainable Arts Ecosystems, and Imagination in Education & Lifelong Learning. Through plays and performances, multidisciplinary collaborations, installations, and educational programs, we explore how creativity helps communities navigate complexity, strengthen relationships, and envision new possibilities. Each project — whether a touring production, a place-based residency, or a research-driven partnership — is part of a broader practice committed to systems-level change, participatory arts, and the transformative power of imagination.
Much of our work also centers the wellbeing, agency, and creative leadership of women and gender-expansive people, recognizing that addressing gendered violence and inequality is foundational to building healthier communities and futures.
