About the Studio

Make Create More is a theatre-led creative studio founded by Catherine Stewart. We work in two connected modes: MAKE, our participatory theatre productions—plays and performance works built for audiences to enter, not just watch—and CREATE, the facilitation, kits, courses, and workshops that carry that same practice into classrooms, libraries, workplaces, and town halls.

The throughline is simple: we believe imagination is a civic skill, not a luxury. Every project, whether a full production or a single afternoon workshop, is built the same way—with real craft, real stakes, and real trust in the people in the room.

Catherine

Catherine Stewart is a playwright, director, choreographer, and participatory artist working at the intersection of theatre and civic life. Originally from the U.K., she has spent recent years building work rooted in southern Maine and the wider New England region—work that asks audiences not just to watch, but to take part.

Her plays have been recognized with the Neukom Institute Literary Arts Award and the Clauder Competition Gold Prize, and developed at Jacob’s Pillow and The Reiser Lab at the Alliance Theatre. She is a trained TimeSlips facilitator and a Lifetime Arts roster artist, bringing the same rigor she applies to new play development into workshops, classrooms, and community rooms.

She founded Make Create More to hold both halves of that practice—the plays that take years to build, and the everyday tools that put imagination in more people’s hands sooner.

The Collective

Make Create More is led by Catherine Stewart, working with a rotating network of performers, designers, dramaturgs, and collaborators contracted project by project. Every production draws on artists chosen for the specific demands of that work—which means no two Make Create More casts or crews look quite the same, but every one of them is paid fairly and treated as a full creative partner.
